Fall/Winter ( Vata Season: November-February)

This season is a time for rest and reflection with recipes for warmth, comfort, and nourishment.

Winter (Vata Season: November–February)

Nature’s cue: Air and ether dominate. The body craves grounding, warmth, and nourishment to counter dryness and cold.

Ayurvedic focus: Reduce Vata. Favor foods that are warm, moist, oily, and grounding.

Eat more:

  • Root vegetables (sweet potatoes, carrots, beets)

  • Cooked grains (oats, rice, wheat)

  • Soups, stews, and warm porridges

  • Nuts, seeds, healthy oils (sesame, ghee, olive oil)

  • Warming spices: cumin, turmeric, clove, nutmeg, Hing asafetida, black pepper

Avoid:

  • Raw, cold, dry foods

  • Excess caffeine and stimulants

Ritual tip: Begin the day with a warm cooked breakfast. Embrace stillness, journaling, and self-massage with warm oils.

Bonus: Aligning with the Harvest

 Eat what nature provides:

  • Spring: Detox greens and sprouts

  • Summer: High-energy fruits and veggies

  • Winter: Protein-rich, insulating foods

This rhythm supports natural fat-burning, immunity, and emotional resilience
