Breakfast Dosa

A sattvic, grounding food

In Ayurveda, dosa is considered sattvic when made simply and eaten fresh. Sattvic foods support:

  • clarity

  • calmness

  • emotional steadiness

  • spiritual nourishment

Your rose‑infused version especially supports the heart and nervous system.

How Your Red‑Lentil Dosa Fits the Tradition

Your recipe is a modern Ayurvedic take on dosa because it keeps the essence—lentils, thin crepe‑like texture, cooked on a hot pan—while shifting the flavor profile toward sweet, nourishing, and grounding.

It aligns with Ayurvedic principles because:

  • red lentils are light, easy to digest, and protein‑rich

  • warming spices support digestion

  • rose adds cooling, heart‑soothing qualities

  • coconut oil provides grounding unctuousness

  • the thin crepe form makes it easy to digest and assimilate

It becomes a breakfast that is both comforting and energetically balancing.

Ingredients:

1 cup of soaked red lentils

1/2 cup water

A pinch of cinnamon, cardamom, and nutmeg

2 tablespoons maple syrup

Rose Petal Powder Or Rose Petal Jam

Mix all ingredients together in a blender and blend until you have a pancake-like consistency.  Heat coconut oil on a pan and pour the batter onto pan.  Using a spoon smooth out the batter to form a circular shape that is thin like a crepe.  Cook on each side for 2-3 minutes or until crispy and light brown.  Fold in half and sprinkle shredded coconut flakes or coconut sugar on top.  You can also put a scoop of rose petal jam.
