Dashamula Tea
Dashamula, a tea made of ten roots, is used in Ayurvedic postpartum care to calm Vata in the Nervous system. During the postpartum period, Dashamula helps your body digest ama, increase strength, relieve pain, reduce tension and anxiety, promote calmness, and generally restore health and well-being. Dashamula also aids in strengthening the uterus after childbirth. Take it as a strong tea, twice a day, every day for 42 days.
1 tsp dashamula
1 cup of water
Boil water and steep the tea for 10 minutes, strain and enjoy!
Drink morning and evening.
Sweet Lactation Tea
This tea helps support lactation and breastfeeding; it also supports digestion and soothes the nerves. Drink daily for 42 days.
1 teaspoon fennel seeds
1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
tsp Musta Powder (optional)
4 cups water
Add spices into boiled water, turn off the heat, and steep for fifteen or twenty minutes. Strain and sip warm water throughout the day.
Ashoka and Rose Sitz Bath
Ayurveda suggests bathing with water infused with Ashoka herbs, which are known to alleviate physical and psychological pain and support female fertility. To enhance healing and strengthen the uterus post-birth, boil the herbs for a sitz bath. Use once to three times weekly during the first 42 days after birth.
Boil 2 tablespoons of ashoka and rose petals in 3 cups of water, reducing until 2 cups of water remain.
Add to a sitz bath attached to the toilet and soak for at least twenty minutes. While in the bath, contract the perineum to draw the herbal water closer to the uterus.
